OREGON: When Calvin’s* case made its way to Hope’s House, which specializes in finding families for teens in foster care, a Family Find worker ran Calvin’s information through our technology. This incredible Family Find worker found a grandmother who not only had photos of Calvin up on her wall, but she had many stories to tell. His grandmother shared that Calvin was named after his great-grandfather, who was a highly prominent police officer in his community.
Calvin became overwhelmed when he heard about all the information that was found on his family and the special meaning behind his name.
Due to COVID-19, Calvin has not had an in-person visit yet with his grandmother but they have been in regular contact through letters, phone calls, and video chats. While the grandmother has health problems that prevent her from taking Calvin in, she and the family are committed to continuing to find ways to connect with Calvin since many of his relatives live near each other.
They care about Calvin. They are his family after all.
