MINNESOTA: Using Connect Our Kids technology, Syrah’s* caseworker was able to find Syrah’s biological father. With just his name and state, our People Search tool found his Facebook profile and a current phone number. This is just one of the many steps taken during the family-finding and family-engagement processes.
Upon contact, the caseworker identified more relatives based on information her father willingly shared. One of these relatives, Marjorie, Syrah’s first cousin once removed, took a particular interest in Syrah.
Marjorie feels it is important that Syrah knows her family history so she has been happily helping Syrah put together a family tree identifying more relatives, including letters for Syrah’s life book, and answering any questions as they arise.
Syrah’s amazing caseworker continues to reach out to all the new connections and is building an ever-increasing support system. Syrah, a girl who once thought she had no one, is now not alone.
